Green's
Clued-up Seafood Champion
cooking score 3
Whitby may be addicted to fish and chips, but Rob Green's livewire set-up takes seafood to another level in the town. This clued-up, two-tiered operation with a buzzy bistro on the ground floor and a swish dining room upstairs (think low lights and intimate booths). One accessible menu now fits all, although fish from name-checked Whitby trawlers remains the main attraction - fillet of turbot with a vegetable nage and poached shellfish, say. Otherwise, expect an eclectic bonanza taking in grilled scallops with Parmesan and pesto, bouillabaisse and Thai seafood curry as well as fish pie, moules frites and oysters every which way. Alternatively, shun seafood in favour of a Yorkshire reared rump steak or a grilled pork chop with black pudding.Wines start at 15.25. Note : The Green's recently added two ' boutique apartments to their accommodation in the town
